JOB TITLE: Business/Data Analysis- Principal Development Analyst
LOCATION: London
Package: Permanent role, salary to £50k + package and bonus
JOB PURPOSE:
As part of the Business to Consumer Commercial Operations & Development team, the Principal Development Analyst is responsible for the development of B2C commercial data, systems and processes.
Customer base: Growing to 7m accounts - thousands of segments
Energy purchase: £200m of trades to be allocated each month
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Operations & Development’s aim is to work with other B2C teams and across the company to increase the quality and accuracy of commercial data, automate processes and enable analysts to add more value.
2. Plan the evolution of commercial process, systems and tools to deliver B2C strategic goals - own and manage all business processes within Operations, ensuring:
a. all relevant business risks including legal, regulatory and policy compliance are identified, assessed, recorded and managed through appropriate internal controls.
b. a regular review of process and controls results in the identification and implementation of improvements to quality, speed, risk mitigation and control.
The position will support the operational centre by running regular and ad-hoc data manipulation processes. A key requirement will be to work with the other B2C Commercial teams to understand operational processes, identify areas for improvement and provide development support. Therefore strong numerical and business analysis skills are essential.
With energy purchased every day for over 5m customer accounts, B2C generates a large amount of data. Understanding this data better than our competitors can be a vital source of competitive advantage. This role will involve working with the other B2C Commercial teams to ensure that this vast amount of data is simply, accurately and effectively managed and processed. In doing this the job holder should provide information and, importantly, leverage to the other B2C commercial teams.
A highly analytical person is required with a good command of the energy industry.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Experience
o An education to degree standard is required, or a demonstration of ability to the same level delivered in a working environment. A numerical / business discipline is preferred (Maths, IT, Economics, Finance, Engineering)
o Experience of the energy industry, retail industry or a trading environment is preferred.
o A successful track record in project and/or programme management and delivery is preferred.
Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills
o Strong commercially, highly numerical with high analytical and ability.
o Strong IT and data modelling skills (Excel, Access etc).
o Able to work effectively across the business unit with strong influencing skills.
o Able to challenge the way things are done and look at ways to optimise improvements to the business.
o Proven delivery in improving efficiency and quality of performance.
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
o Strong planning experience.
o Good attention to detail.
o Ability to work on own initiative.
